Residential Life
Our residential house is much more than a place to stay. It is the heart of the school experience. As a co-educational residential and day school, SGIS nurtures a community where every child feels at home, supported, and valued in every part of their academic, emotional, and personal growth.
We welcome new students into our dedicated residential houses, where they are gently guided through the transition to school life with care and warmth. This settling-in phase helps them make friends, gain confidence, and find comfort in their new home away from home.
Residential Care and Well-being
Our residential houses are designed to maintain a healthy balance between independence and togetherness. Each house is led by a Residential House Master and House Parents, supported by resident mentors and pastoral staff who live on campus. The Head of Pastoral and the wellness team ensure that every student receives care and guidance throughout the day.
Here, we see pastoral care as a continuous and thoughtful process. Well-being, life skills, and emotional resilience are part of daily life on campus. Our Wellness Centre, open around the clock, provides professional support, while school counsellors and tutors offer personal guidance in a safe and caring environment.
The life skills and values education programme, built into every grade, helps students grow emotionally, ethically, and socially along with their academics. We aim to nurture responsibility, empathy, and integrity in every child.
Residential Life and Activities
The residential schedule follows a seven-day cycle, with academic classes held from Monday to Saturday. Sundays are reserved for rest, reflection, outings, and creative exploration. Students spend the day engaging in treks, art workshops, sports, or community service, giving them space to relax and learn beyond the classroom.
House life is at the heart of the SGIS experience. It is where students build lasting friendships, share responsibilities, and celebrate achievements together. Our inter-house competitions in academics, sports, music, theatre, debate, and leadership encourage teamwork, healthy competition, and school spirit.
Leadership and Community Life
Leadership development is an essential part of our residential experience. Students take on increasing levels of responsibility as class representatives, event leaders, House Captains, and School Prefects. These positions are not ceremonial; they help shape confident, ethical, and compassionate leaders for the future.
Our approach to discipline is rooted in fairness and mutual respect. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward bullying and create a culture where every voice is valued. Students learn that personal accountability and kindness go hand in hand.
