Mr. Ajit Narain Haksar was a distinguished alumnus of Doon School, Dehradun andAllahabadUniversity from where he graduated in Humanities. He obtained his MBA fromHarvard Business School, USA. He joined Imperial Tobacco Company (now ITC) in 1948 and served in various capacities including Marketing Director and Deputy Chairman during hisover three decades of association with the company. He became the first Indian to lead ITCas its Chairman in 1969. He was appointed as Chairman-Emeritus, ITC in 1983. Haksar’smanagerial success earned him numerous awards, such as Man of the Year Award, theOutstanding Industrialist Award, Businessman of the Year Award, among others. He was theonly Indianprofessional manager who was enshrined in Business World Hall of Fame
